The 18th Asianet Film Awards, one of the most prestigious award shows to honour the best in the Malayalam entertainment industry, took place at Adlux International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Karukutty, Angamaly, from 6 pm on Sunday, 7 February.

Tamil actors Vikram and Trisha were the chief guests at the award night. The star-studded award show saw performances by Mohanlal, Asha Sharath, Vishnu Priya, Mia George, Neeraj Madhav and Akshara Kishor, among others.

Prithviraj Sukumaran and Parvathy bagged the best actor and actress awards for their performances in RS Vimal's blockbuster movie "Ennu Ninte Moideen". The movie was also awarded the Best Film of 2015. While superstar Mohanlal was given the Millenium Star Award, Mammootty bagged the Lifetime Achievement Award. Young actors Nivin Pauly and Dulquer Salmaan received Asianet's Popular Actor and Youth Icon awards, respectively.

Aju Varghese was adjudged best comedian and dedicated the win to Vinay Forrt for his performance in "Premam". "I dedicate this to our dear Vimal sir of Premam. Vinay bro: this is yours," Aju posted on his Facebook page.

Alphonse Puthren's "Premam" and RS Vimal's "Ennu Ninte Moideen" bagged the maximum number of awards this year at the 18th Asianet awards.

The event was attended by almost all the celebrities of the Malayalam fraternity, including Mohanlal, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Nivin Pauly, Parvathy, Sai Pallavi, Aju Varghese, Vijay Yesudas, Yesudas, Innocent, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Namitha Pramod, Meena, Gopi Sunder, Kamal, Reenu Mathews, Priyanka, Sshivada Nair, Joju George, Biju Menon, Navya Nair, Akshara Kishor, Kalabhavan Shajon, Pranav Mohanlal, Jomon T John and Anusree.

Also in attendance were yesteryear actress Sheela, Meera Jasmine, Sibi Malayil, Vimala Raman, Stephen Devassy, Nikitha Thukral, Kalaranjini, KPAC Lalitha, Nedumudi Venu, RS Vimal, Pearle Maaney, Vijaya Raghavan, Shine Tom Chacko, Nikki Galrani, Lena, Saikumar, Bindhu Panicker, Sijoy Varghese, Thesni Khan, Neeraj Madhav, Tiny Tom, Anupama Parameshwaran, Ramesh Pisharody, Dinesh Nair, Deepak Dev, Ambika, Muthumani, Jagadeesh, Prathap Pothen, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Manoj K Jayan, Suresh Krishna, Baby Meenakshi, Vaikom Vijayalakshmi, Priyal Gor, Vijay Babu, Padmaraj Ratheesh, Parvathy Ratheesh and Aparna Vinod.
