John Abraham starrer "Welcome Back" has finished its first week run at the domestic box office with second highest income after Salman Khan's "Bajrangi Bhaijaan".

The comedy entertainer is also a surprise hit at the overseas box office.

After "Bajrangi Bhaijaan", Akshay Kumar and Sidharth Malhotra starrer "Brothers" was expected to rake in good numbers at the box office, but the film failed to do so. Even Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer "Phantom" opened to average response.

On the other hand, "Welcome Back" was expected to have a slow start and do average business, but surprisingly the film performed well at the box office in India as well as overseas.

"Welcome Back" has minted Rs 74 crore in its first week from the domestic box office, which is the second highest first week total of 2015.

"#WelcomeBack Fri 14.35 cr, Sat 17.05 cr, Sun 19.60 cr, Mon 7.52 cr, Tue 6.17 cr, Wed 5.08 cr, Thu 4.25 cr. Total: ₹ 74.02 cr. India biz," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.

The film has also earned approximately Rs 40 crore overseas, which is huge for a comedy entertainer, according to Box Office India.

The first week worldwide box office of "Welcome Back" has crossed the Rs 100 crore mark.

Directed by Anees Bazmee, the film features Shruti Haasan, Anil Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Nana Patekar, Dimple Kapadia, Naseeruddin Shah and Sakshi Maggo in pivotal roles.

Meanwhile, Salman's "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" has topped several international markets leaving Aamir Khan's "PK" behind. But in some circuits, "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" total is less than "Dhoom 3".

Check out the country-wise total of the film, as provided by Box Office India:
