There are several possibilities of Apple fans being left disappointed when flagship devices iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are released for the simple reason that the devices needs significant upgrade. It is to be seen if the company can live up to the expectations of people.

The Cupertino giant has been keeping mum on the release date of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, but reports have claimed that they will be up for pre-orders on Sept. 9 and start shipping on Sept. 23. There are also reports that it will be announced on Sept. 12 before releasing on Sept. 16.

With Samsung's latest offering, the Galaxy Note 7 boasting of features like the iris scanner, good support for virtual reality (VR) gears, and 518 ppi screen resolution, many may ask if Apple Inc will be able to close in the gap with its upcoming iPhone. Apple fans will surely look for significant changes in the iPhone 7, and the company may receive flak if it fails to do so.

Interestingly, Fluent, a firm that helps brands to acquire best customers with precision, found out in its survey with 1,735 adults from the U.S that 22 per cent of consumers want more storage in the upcoming iPhone 7, while better battery life and more powerful processor follow with 18 per cent each. Among the most wanted features, waterproof comes first with 56 per cent, followed by 20 per cent for wireless charging.

Apple is very likely to upgrade the processor and battery, but it is not known if it will introduce features like waterproof and wireless charging.

The Cupertino giant is expected to release the iPhone 7 with a 4.7-inch screen, and the iPhone 7 Plus with a 5.5-inch screen and dual cameras. However, the two variants are expected to share other specifications like an A10 chip, an iOS 10 operating system, a 3GB RAM, a camera with OIS (optical image stabilisation), and a lightning jack.

MobiPicker has claimed in a report that the price of iPhone 7 will start at 5258 Yuan (around $802) for the 32GB, compared to 5,288 Yuan for the 16GB model of iPhone 6s, despite several feature upgrades. On the other hand, the iPhone 7 Plus is expected to price at 6888 Yuan (around $1045) for the 128GB model as against 7,788 Yuan for the 128GB variant of the iPhone 6s Plus. The report has indicated that the two variants of iPhone 7 will be cheaper than its predecessors, but it is not confirmed.
